Why Isn't Matt Pimperl Famous?
After appearing on the main stage of the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas Matts father became ill. Matt turned down a number of opportunities including a move to Europe with a Polydor recording contract. As an only child Matt made a choice to run the family business and care for his aging parents that ended his and my hope of a big singing career.
That’s why you never heard of Matt Pimperl unless you’re a bowler. After winning the Michigan State University Bowling Championship his Freshman year he moved back to Chicago to continue bowling in a larger arena and on a broader scale.
Matt Quickly became one of Chicago’s most outstanding bowlers. Soon an invitee to compete in the World Invitational Match Game Championship, the most prestigious bowling tournament of its time, a tournament that limited its field to the top 100 bowlers in the world confirmed Matt’s talent.
Matt continued to bowl with the best and against the best until his opportunity to sing came along.
In 2002 Matt was inducted in the Hall of Fame. Jim Zimmermann, president of the Illinois Bowling Association spoke of Matt’s career and concluded his endorsement of Matt’s qualifications by saying, “Matt has a long list of titles, a long list of accomplishment. His credentials are legendary.”
